"A stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice."
James Morrison AM
British-Australian jazz vocalist & bandleader - touring internationally for over twenty years across 28 countries.
Based in Paris, available for club, festival and concert hall bookings worldwide.
With impeccable timing, a raised eyebrow, and a natural, clarion tone, jazz vocalist and bandleader HETTY KATE brings twenty years of deep repertoire knowledge to her lyric-led interpretations of the American Songbook. Her trio album Under Paris Skies reached #2 on the Japanese Jazz Charts, and her work has been recognised by critics across the US, UK, Europe, and Australasia. Her latest project, Jazz in Four Seasons, is a four-album series in which each volume is recorded in a different city with local musicians chosen to reflect both the season and the place. Volume 1, Spring, was recorded in Prague with five Czech musicians and features fresh modern jazz interpretations of works by Strayhorn, Ellington, Dameron, and Brubeck. It is the eleventh album from an artist whose career spans continents, concert halls, and jazz clubs alike.
In 2012, Australian jazz luminary James Morrison invited Hetty to join his touring bands, and she performed with him for five years. Describing her as having "a stage presence only matched by the clarity of her voice," Hetty was the featured vocalist in Morrison's symphonic concert The A to Z of Jazz, performed with eight symphonies across Europe, Asia and Oceania. She sang on the award-winning live recording with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, which won the 2016 Australian Jazz Bell Award for Best Traditional Album. Over the course of her career she has performed alongside Rick Margitza, Peter Bernstein, Michael Kanan, and Franck Amsallem.
